Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Africa
In June of 2009, my crew and I delivered the Gubert Tide,
a PSV displacing 5,000 tons from Singapore to Abidjan,
Côte d´Ivoire, Africa (8,800 miles) in 36 days. We went through
the Malacca Straits, Indian Ocean, around Cape of Good Hope
and up the African west coast.

Blue Water Over The Bow by Day

The wave action was strong enough to send blue
water over the bow.
Blue water over the bow looks much more
intimidating at night.

Rolling at Sea
|
|
At its worst, we recorded twenty five degree
rolls, which knocked stuff over.
We ballasted down to give a better ride,
but this made the deck wet.

Ocean Rendezvous with Desoto Tide
|
|
We were in a convoy with a sister ship, the Desoto Tide,
though we did not see her other than on radar except
this one time. We looked just like this.
We had an unsuccessful photo shoot with a
helicopter off the coast of Capetown.
